Social responsibility
B&Q is constantly working with suppliers to develop more sustainable and ethical supply chains for the products we sell – so customers can be confident that the environmental impact of what they buy has been properly considered.
This means making sure all the wood and paper products we use or sell come from sustainable sources, and any chemicals we use or sell do not adversely affect the health of customers, staff or their environment.
We also aim to minimise our contribution to climate change, by reducing our own use of energy and promoting and selling products that are energy efficient.
Household wind turbines became our number one seller when we brought them to the mass market for the first time in autumn 2006 (as part of an energy efficiency campaign which also included solar panels and energy trackers).
Reduction of our packaging, cutting down the amount of products that are thrown away and other store waste and reducing our transport impacts are all part of our commitment to being a better neighbour.
